Kelly grew up in the East Bay and started playing club volleyball at age 11. At ages 14 and 15, Kelly was one of 36 girls selected in the country to play on the USA High Performance Team and train at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. In her freshman year of high school, Kelly played on the Varsity team at Monte Vista as a starting outside hitter, and for City Beach 16-1s, who ended up winning Nationals in the Open Division in Salt Lake City, Utah. Kelly then transferred to San Ramon Valley High School her sophomore year and played as a starter on Varsity for the following three seasons.

During her three years at SRV, the Wolves finished in the top 3 in the North Coast Section (2001 – 3rd, 2002- 2nd, 2003 – 1st).  The girls were also the EBAL champions those three years!  Kelly was a leader on her volleyball teams at SRV.  All her teammates looked up to her as she was very knowledgeable about volleyball skills and strategies and knew how to get her team to compete.

Kelly was selected 1st all EBAL team all four years and was league MVP in 2002.  As a senior, Kelly was named NCS, "Player of the Year", Contra Costa Times and Tri-Valley Harold, "Player of the Year", Sports Focus "Fall Athlete of the Year", and she was also selected as the SRV Female Athlete of the Year.

After college, Kelly played professionally in Vordingborg, Denmark and was able to compete with talented players from all over the world.

Kelly continues to stay involved with the game, working with today's youth whenever she can. She has been recognized in our area as one of the best at the game ever!
