Roy Kissin

2004 SRVHS Athletic Hall of Fame

Roy Kissin, Class of 1975:

Roy Kissin has always been quick on his feet – literally. Roy spent many of his high school days, and beyond, running. And boy could he certainly run. And the more he ran, the more he won-the more he won, well, the more he ran.

Roy played four varsity seasons on the Track & Field team and four varsity seasons on the Cross Country team at San Ramon Valley High School. He placed in the top four at NSC in three seasons, was name All League for three seasons, competed at state level for three seasons, and set two records at San Ramon Valley High School.

And records they were-records which have yet to be broken. Mr. Kissin is the current record holder at San Ramon Valley High School in both the 1600 meters (4:15) and the 3200 meters (8:55).

After graduation from San Ramon, Roy attended Stanford University and while there he was named All-American in Track for one year. Upon graduation from Stanford, Roy qualified for Olympic Trials in 1984 for two events, the 5,000 meter and the 10,000 meter.
