Melissa Cartmell Larson

2009 SRVHS Athletic Hall of Fame

Melissa Cartmell Larson, Class of 1997:

Melissa is one of three inductees to hold a current school record in track (300 Low Hurdles). She was League Champion as a freshman and qualified for the State Track Meet as a sophomore. Yet, Melissa may be best known for her soccer prowess; Melissa was the league’s leading scorer for three straight years and was named both the Female Athlete of the Year at SRVHS and the San Ramon Valley Times Female Athlete of the Year. At the University of Colorado, Melissa was her team’s leading scorer all four years. She was Team Captain for two years and named MVP in her senior year.

Melissa’s SRVHS career stats are almost too many to list. Her stats in Track included champ in the 300m hurdles, 2nd in NCS, 6th at Meet of Champions, 6th all-time SRVHS 4 x 400 as a freshman. As a sophomore she was also League Champ in 300m hurdles, 2nd NCS, 4th at Meet of Champions, and held the record at SRVHS for 300m hurdles.

Not surprisingly, she is the current record holder for the 300m hurdles at SRVHS!

As a soccer star, among other accolades, she was Leading Scorer in League, 1st Team All-League, All-League MVP, SRV Times Female Athlete of the Year, and Female Athlete of the Year in her senior year.

She went to college on a Division 1 Soccer scholarship and was the leading goal scorer all four years. Named Team Captain as a junior and senior, she helped the team to the Big 12 championship 3 of 4 years. Melissa also holds too many University of Colorado school records to count here.

She was the women’s Varsity Asst. Soccer coach at SRVHS for 6 seasons, and co-director of the SRV Soccer Camp since 2000.

Melissa lives locally and is a Math teacher at Charlotte Wood Middle School.
