Is your child struggling in school?
We invite you to join other parents and teachers as we
explore ways to support you and your child.

The Special Needs Committee of the San Ramon Valley Council of PTAs was formed to provide information and support to parents and teachers regarding students with special needs. Our committee serves parents in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District (San Ramon, Danville and Alamo).

We define “Special needs” as applying to those children with learning differences, physical disabilities, ADHD, autism, processing difficulties, speech and language difficulties, emotional issues, etc., as well as those students identified as gifted learners. Students identified for school district special education and gifted programs comprise over 15% of the district’s student population, and hundreds more students have special needs that may require some type of support.

We host parent/teacher programs and a Special Needs Conference, publish a parent handbook, advocate legislatively in Sacramento and Washington, D.C., work with the school district to help implement their Special Education Action Plan and host support meetings.
