- Sister School Program

Through the District’s Sister School Program, SRVHS is paired with Peres Elementary School, which is located in the “Iron Triangle” neighborhood of Richmond and serves approximately 600 students from Preschool through 6th grade. This is San Ramon Valley High School’s seventh year working with Peres. Our goal is to provide resources and support to the students, families, teachers, and staff at Peres. With guidance from the PTSA Sister School Program coordinators and Mrs. Janet Willford (the SRVHS leadership teacher), SRVHS leadership students assist in the organization of these projects. The projects are open, however, to ALL students and parents interested in participating in the community service opportunities. SRVHS students can sign up to help with Peres projects by contacting Mrs. Willford (552-3062). Interested parents or students may also contact the PTSA coordinator - Carolyn Gwynn.
The generous parent donations collected at Wolf Pack Days will finance this year’s projects for Peres Elementary highlighted below. As needed, specific item donations will also be requested throughout the school year to supplement this program (ie. new and gently used books, paper, pencils, and beanie babies.) Donation baskets are located in the school Attendance Office. If your business has any donations to make, please contact one of the coordinators. In the past some of our local businesses have provided binders, electric pencil sharpeners, staplers, calculators, and copy paper.

October: College Day at Peres:  Approximately 20 SRVHS students make brief presentations to the Peres 4th6th  grade classrooms to promote readiness for High School and College.  Parent Chaperones and Drivers are needed.

Halloween:  SRVHS Students and Parents collect used Halloween costumes and coordinate SRVHS students attending the annual Halloween Parade at Peres.  Parent Drivers and Chaperones needed.

December: Holiday Gift Drive:  SRVHS Students and Parents collect a holiday gift for each of Peres’ 600 students.  There is a theme such as “outdoor play” or “board games”. Main activities:  Coordinate the communication for requests in the school bulletin, school loop, Danville Patch, Nextdoor, Facebook, etc.  Pick up gifts from Danville toy store and bring to SRVHS leadership room.  Work with Leadership organizing gifts into age-appropriate categories.  Parent Drivers and Chaperones needed.

February:  6th grade visit to SRVHS: The entire Peres 6th grade visits SRVHS on a rally day.  We host the kids in our theatre, music, and science classrooms, along with the career center.  We pay for the bus transportation for the students.

March:  Read Across America Day:  SRVHS Students and Parents collect age appropriate books, one for each of the 600+ students at Peres.  The books are sorted by grade by Leadership students and distributed by 20-30 SRVHS students.  We spend several hours at Peres playing with the kids at recess and reading to them in the classroom. Parent Drivers and Chaperones needed.

Be Buck Program:  We provide small trinkets to assist with this reward program at Peres that “catches” kids “BEing” good.  Trinkets collected and delivered by a SRVHS parent coordinator 4 x throughout the year.

Bike helmets:  A local organization provides bikes to Peres at holiday time and the Sister School program funds the purchase of helmets.

Ongoing Family Outreach – We solicit donations of specific items when a need arises to give extra support to Peres families. Also, we continuously collect small toys and beanie babies to be used as prizes for various student performance incentive programs run by the school.
