Dr. Peter Benson, President and CEO of The Search Institute, visited our community last September to share with us the purpose and importance of the 40 Developmental Assets and “Sparks,” the innate passions and interests that each one of us has that, when discovered, will inspire us to be and to do all that we are meant to be and do. When we as adults are aware of the assets and sparks, they become powerful tools for empowering, inspiring and investing intentionally in lives of our youth, whether as our own children, as our neighbors, athletes, students in our schools, interns or customers in our stores.

 

What has been happening in our community since Dr. Benson’s visit? Where are we going with the assets-sparks initiative in our community? Many people are doing lots of great things, and there is still more to be done in our community! Topics will include activities in our local schools, tutoring/mentoring opportunities, the healthy community-healthy youth initiative, and “neighborhood groups”.

 

Please join us for a light continental breakfast and hear more about all that is going on in our schools and community groups, learn about the things that remain to be accomplished and how YOU can participate with us in developing all the students in our community into young people with passion and purpose who are equipped for the challenges of our diverse community, economy and ever-changing world and prepared to be contributors to their communities!
