Principal's Welcome Message

Welcome to the 2017 - 2018 school year. It is with a great deal of enthusiasm that I embark on my first year at San Ramon Valley High School. I always greet each school year with a renewed commitment to my primary goal of empowering students to achieve their educational potential. This goal is not easily reached. However, I am confident that San Ramon Valley High School has the necessary components of greatness to challenge and cultivate student engagement and success.

San Ramon Valley High School has a rich history of academic, athletic and artistic success which dates back over 100 years. The SRV community has many reasons to be proud: a nationally recognized array of extra and co curricular programs and a dedicated staff of accomplished professionals. SRVHS is undoubtedly one of the top high schools in the region, the state and the nation, but we must not let this record of success lead to complacency. SRVHS aligns with the SRVUSD strategic plan to prepare students for the 21st century global marketplace.  We must continue to establish rich connections between the high school experience and the world beyond our classroom walls. Through the highest levels of professionalism, dedication and partnership, we will achieve these goals.

SRVHS is committed to fostering a culture that provides every student with a safe and welcoming environment as well as a variety of opportunities to support student success. I encourage you to get involved. “School connectedness was found to be the strongest protective factor for both boys and girls to decrease substance use, school absenteeism, early sexual initiation, violence, and risk of unintentional injury (e.g., drinking and driving, not wearing seat belts)," according to the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health . In this same study, school connectedness was second in importance, after family connectedness, as a protective factor against emotional distress, eating disorders and suicidal ideation and attempts.

We are grateful to the families and communities of SRVHS for their emphasis on the importance of education and support of student success. Resources provided by our generous support groups enhance our students’ academic and extracurricular experiences at SRVHS. We are proud of our students for having high expectations for themselves and their education and for their excitement about and pride in our school. Students and families, as you make SRVHS your home, please get involved with our campus community. We believe that our students’ connections to SRVHS will define who we are and what we will become.

Success is never accomplished in isolation. It is essential that our community is aware of the instructional emphasis that underscores everything we do as a school. Our schoolwide points of focus for the 2017-18 school year provide a vision as we continue our pursuit academic, athletic and artistic excellence. Our three key areas are: academic achievement, professional development and collaboration, and community and culture. The excellent staff of teachers, counselors, administrators and support personnel at SRVHS is dedicated to helping students develop and achieve their individual goals. Administrators and counselors have an open door policy for students with school related concerns or personal issues. We value your feedback and encourage members of our educational community to approach us with ideas that can contribute to our vision.

I am excited about the partnerships we will build in the upcoming year and beyond. Through teamwork and valuing outside perspectives, I am committed to making San Ramon Valley High School the best possible place for students. I wish you the very best this school year. Go Wolves!

Sincerely,

Dear Students,

If you are brand new to San Ramon Valley High School (like me!) then you are probably wondering what life at this prestigious High School will be like. In the few weeks that I have been here, I have found SRVHS to be a welcoming, spirited and inclusive campus. The staff is supportive, kind, and caring. The students are motivated, involved, and proud to be a part of this high school.

Those of you who have already spent your freshman, sophomore and/or junior years at SRVHS know that this is indeed the "Home of Champions." This is a campus where athletes, artists, scholars, musicians and technically skilled students all excel. It is my privilege to be able to serve as Principal of this great educational community.

There are opportunities at SRVHS for EVERYONE to get involved in something that they love - whether it's Student Leadership, San Ramon Student Ambassadors, Link Crew, Journalism, Yearbook, the Wolfprint Newspaper - or one of the 50 other clubs/co-curricular activities that are available.

The staff at SRVHS is dedicated to providing you with a positive and supportive high school experience, but there are three commitments that we ask from you:

  1. Do the right thing
  2. Treat others the way that you want to be treated.
  3. Do what you can to make SRVHS a better place.

If you strive to do your best and take advantage of the opportunities that are available to you, then you will have a memorable and successful high school experience. My commitment to you as Principal of SRVHS is to maintain the traditions of excellence that have already been established here while finding ways to further enhance your educational experience on this campus.

Go Wolves!
