2018-2019 WASC Accreditation

San Ramon Valley High School is currently going through the self-study portion of the WASC process which will culminate with a committee accredidation visit in November of 2018.

What is WASC?

The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) is one of six official academic bodies responsible for the accreditation of public and private universities, colleges, secondary and elementary schools in the United States and foreign institutions of American origin. Schools go through the WASC accreditation process every six years. During this process, schools must conduct a self study that examines all aspects of a school including organization, vision for learning, curriculum, assessment, instructional strategies and school climate and culture. This self study examines data from a variety of sources and produces a detailed report that highlights both the successes and the critical needs of students and provides an action plan for continued improvement. Students, staff, parents, and teachers all play a critical role in the self study process. At the end of the six year cycle, a WASC accreditation team visits the school, reviews the school's self study report, meets the faculty, students and parents, visits classrooms and prepares its report and recommendations for the school.

Where does SRVHS currently stand in the accredidation process?

San Ramon Valley High School is currently in the sixth and final year of our current self-study process which will culminate with the submission of a self study report which will be used to guide the school's mission, vision, and programs over the course of the next six years. The original review of the self study report and evaluation by the WASC visiting committee was slated for the spring of 2018 but, due to administrative changes, an extension was granted so that the cycle culminates in November of 2018.

In the spring of 2015, SRVHS submitted a three-year mid-cycle report that was accepted by WASC. We are currently in progress of meeting with staff, parents, and students regarding our progress towards completing items from the action plan of our 2015 report and are working towards completing our next self study.
