Period 1 - MEN'S ENSEMBLE is a non-auditioned, beginning choir for men. The course is open to any aged high school student. The choir does not perform at any school assemblies or rallies, only at the major choral concerts. Participants in this course learn the basics of good singing, musicianship and performance skills. Literature covered will include classical, folksong, pop, jazz and barbershop. A performance outfit is required. After successful completion of Men's Ensemble, most guys are ready to be promoted to the large Concert Choir. This course meets the visual/performing arts requirement for California State University.

Period 3 - WOMEN'S ENSEMBLE is a non-auditioned, beginning choir for women. The course is open to any aged high school student. The choir does not perform at any school assemblies or rallies, only at the major choral concerts. Participants in this course learn the basics of good singing, musicianship and performance skills. Literature covered will include classical, folksong, pop, jazz and barbershop. A performance outfit is required. After successful completion of Women's Ensemble, many girls are ready to be promoted to the Treble Clef Choir. This course meets the visual/performing arts requirement for California State University.

Period 4 - CONCERT CHOIR The award-winning SRVHS Concert Choir is recognized as one of the top choirs in Northern California. They performed at the 2008 ACDA Conference in Anaheim, CA and have taken the first place prize at the Golden State Choral Compeition four times in the last ten years. Concert Choir offers performance experience in a variety of musical styles ranging from classical to show tunes. There is an emphasis on choral technique, music reading and musical interpretation. This group sings at all school concerts and at several festivals and competitions which students are required to attend. In addition, they take an annual Spring tour. In the past, they have toured to New Orleans, New York, Atlanta, Savannah, Charleston, Chicago and countless other US cities. Concert Choir prepares students for participation in Chamber Singers. This course meets the visual/performing arts requirement for California State University and the "f" elective requirement for the University of California.

Period 5 - CHAMBER SINGERS The SRVHS Chamber Singers is one of the top performing groups in Northern California. They have won the prestigious Golden State Choral Competition several times in the last decade, including their win in 2010! Chamber Siners is an audition only class and students are required to be concurrently enrolled in the Concert Choir and they must participate in the annual spring tour.This course is designed for the talented vocalist interested in the study and performance of chamber music with emphasis on the music of the Renaissance, contemporary, and vocal jazz. There is a strong emphasis on commitment, since the group frequently performs at concerts and for local clubs and organizations. This choir performs at many festivals and competitions which students are required to attend. A performance outfit is required for this class. This course meets the visual/performing arts requirement for California State University and the "f" elective requirement for the University of California.

Period 6 - TREBLE CLEF The award-winning SRVHS Treble Clef Choir was chosen to perform at the American Choral Director's Association's 2010 Conference in Tucson, Az. They were also the 2009 winners of the Women's Golden State Choral Competition. This choir is an audition only ensemble and was created as an intermediate to advanced choir to help further develop the growing female voice. The Treble Clef choir performs at all school concerts and at festivals and competitions which students are required to attend. Treble Clef usually takes an annual tour in the spring and a performance outfit is required for the class. In the past, they have toured to Anchorage, Portland, Dallas, San Diego, Philadelphia, Washington DC and many other major US cities. Treble Clef prepares female students for advanced work in Concert Choir or Chamber Singers. This course meets the visual/performing arts requirement for California State University and the "f" elective requirement for the University of California.
