2012 Central California Band Review in Merced, CA - 11/10/12

On Saturday November 10th, the San Ramon Valley High School Instrumental Music program met at 6:30 am (after the Friday night NCS playoff game) to travel to Merced, CA for the 2012 Central California Band Review. Even in the freezing weather and being moved into a higher competition division (based on school enrollment), we earned the following:

• The Marching Wolves earned 5th place 
• Drum Major Nicholas Neyhouse earned an overall 4th place Drum Major Award
  
• The Jazz Band (Intermediate Jazz class) - 4th place (against the advanced jazz groups from other schools)
  
• Max Joachim (9th grade Guitar) received special outstanding musician recognition
• The Jazz Ensemble earned a 1st place Award! [we missed a music sweepstakes (highest jazz scores in all division) award by only .5 points…..]
  
• Andrew Castleman (11th grade Piano) received special outstanding musician recognition

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR JAZZ MUSICIANS!

Once again, the students in our jazz program demonstrated their musical expertise at the Santa Cruz Jazz Festival.

Our Jazz Combo scored a 196 out of 200 points and earned a “Command Performance” Rating (the highest level awarded at this festival).  
All four students received a Special Commendation for Outstanding Musicianship:

• Cole Jordan, Tenor Saxophone

  
• Kevin Prochnow, Bass
 
 

The Jazz Ensemble received a score of 287 out of 300 points to also earn a “Command Performance” Rating.  We were also told that we had performed some of the most difficult/complex music in our division. 
Special Commendations were award to:

• Cole Jordan, Tenor Saxophone
