In Spanish 3 students continue to develop their writing and speaking skills, and their listening and reading comprehension. This is considered a college prep class - Intermediate to Intermediate Advanced level of the language.

Some of the vocabulary and cultural topics covered this year are: Outdoor activities, the arts (with a major focus on Hispanic painters), health and nutrition, conflict and resolution; careers and work, technology and the future and, anthropology and ancient cultures.

The most important grammar topics are: the uses of the preterite and imperfect tenses, the subjunctive and the future tense.

It is important to have daily practice in order to develop language skills. The development of speaking skills will be emphasized.

Daily homework, including week ends, are required to be succesful a learning a language at this level. Any activities outside school that give the student the opportunity to use the language is of great benefit. The use of technology for practicing in various ways is encouraged. There are resources on line for additional practice in grammar, listening, reading and recording. Watching appropriate programs such as the news on Spanish TV channels or, watching a movie with subtitles in Spanish, texting, e-mailing or talking on the phone or on Skype with a classmate are some ideas for additional practice.
