Leland Fereira

2000 SRVHS Athletic Hall of Fame

Leland Fereira, class of 1936:

Leland “Lee” Fereira, attended San Ramon Valley Union High School (as it was known at the time) from 1932 until graduation in 1936.

Mr. Fereira played 4 varsity seasons and as a Varsity Football star, Lee helped to elevate the San Ramon team to Championship status in each of the four years he played, (Under Coach Lacverne Brown, San Ramon boasted Championship status for 5 consecutive years in the early 1930’s). Mr. Fereira competed at the state level twice during his illustrations high school career.

Fereira played many sports at San Ramon, including Basketball (1934), Cross Country (1933-36), Football (1933-36), and Track (1933-360). His accomplishments further include winning the 1933 World Junior Pentathlon and was Senior Champion in the Auspices of Oakland Tribune event.

Leland also actively participated in Student government and was Class President (1933-34), Boys League Secretary (1934), Boys League President (1935), Student Body Treasurer (1936), and member of the Student Council (1933-36).

Mr. Fereira played Football and Basketball for the College of the Pacific in Stockton.

A Commander in the American Legion (1946-47), Mr. Fereira later went into the construction business and was Construction Superintendent for Harold Smith Co. builder of many homes in the Tri-Valley.
